CORE Got an Upgrade. Here’s Why.

We don’t change things for the sake of changing things. Every adjustment in CORE 2.0 was made because the research pointed somewhere better — or because something in the original formula wasn’t earning its spot at the level we expect.
Here’s the full breakdown, no marketing spin.
What We Removed
Horsetail Extract (1,000 mg) Horsetail was in the original formula as a silica source for connective tissue support. The problem? At 7% silica standardization, you needed 1,000 mg to deliver about 70 mg of bioavailable silica. We found a better way to do that job. Horsetail also carries sourcing inconsistency risks — it’s a field-harvested plant that accumulates whatever is in the soil, and quality varies significantly between suppliers. We replaced it with something cleaner and more potent.
Ginger Root Extract (400 mg) This one stung a little because ginger is genuinely a good ingredient — COX-2 inhibition, GI motility support, solid anti-inflammatory mechanism. But gingerols and shogaols are flagged under FEI and USEF prohibited substance guidelines, which means horses competing at sanctioned events shouldn’t be on it. We build for performance horses. That means competition horses. Ginger had to go, and we replaced its GI motility function with something that does that job without the compliance concern.
What We Changed
Saccharomyces cerevisiae → Yea-Sacc (3,800 mg) We upgraded from a generic Saccharomyces cerevisiae powder to Yea-Sacc — Alltech’s proprietary, research-backed yeast culture that has more published equine-specific data behind it than any other yeast culture product on the market. The dose dropped slightly from 5,000 mg to 3,800 mg because Yea-Sacc is a more concentrated, standardized product. You’re getting more from less. This is a sourcing upgrade, not a reduction.
Boswellia Serrata Extract: 5,000 mg → 7,000 mg Boswellia is the primary anti-inflammatory anchor in CORE. At 5,000 mg it was doing solid 5-LOX inhibition work. At 7,000 mg it enters the dose range where MMP-3 inhibition becomes clinically relevant — meaning it’s not just managing inflammation, it’s actively protecting the cartilage matrix from enzymatic breakdown. For a horse in real work, that’s the difference between managing wear and preventing it. We increased it because the research supported it and the formula had room to do it right.
Magnesium Glycinate: 6,000 mg → 4,000 mg Magnesium Glycinate is still in the formula and still doing its job — muscle function, nervous system regulation, ATP cofactor. But 6,000 mg was more than the formula needed given that magnesium is also present in quality forage and mineral balancers. We right-sized it to 4,000 mg, which is a fully functional dose, and redirected that freed space to ingredients with more targeted, differentiated function in a performance formula.
Rosehips Powder: 3,500 mg → 2,000 mg Rosehips’ primary job in CORE is Vitamin C — as a cofactor for collagen synthesis and as an oxidative stabilizer that protects the marine collagen and chia omega-3s from going rancid in the formula. At 2,000 mg it still delivers that function completely.
What We Added
Artichoke Leaf Extract (1,000 mg) This replaced the GI motility function that ginger was covering — and then some. Artichoke Leaf Extract works through a choleretic mechanism: it stimulates bile production and flow, which directly accelerates gastric emptying and small bowel transit. The mechanism is conserved in horses, and for a performance horse that hauls, competes, and lives under stress, keeping the stomach moving is one of the most underrated things you can do to prevent ulcers. Artichoke also has documented hepatoprotective effects — a bonus for horses on heavy supplement and medication loads.
L-Carnitine (2,500 mg) L-Carnitine is the transporter that shuttles long-chain fatty acids across the inner mitochondrial membrane so they can be burned for ATP. Without adequate carnitine, the horse can’t efficiently access fat as a fuel source — which matters enormously for both recovery and sustained performance. The equine research is direct: a Thoroughbred study using L-Carnitine alongside a mitochondrial antioxidant showed significantly reduced CK (creatine kinase — the blood marker of muscle damage) and reduced clinical incidence of muscle damage in horses in hard training. CORE didn’t have a dedicated muscle recovery ingredient before. Now it does.
Bamboo Extract, 70% Silica (140 mg) This replaced Horsetail as the silica source. Bamboo extract standardized to 70% silica delivers the same ~70 mg of bioavailable silica as 1,000 mg of horsetail — at just 140 mg. Cleaner sourcing, dramatically higher potency per gram, better consistency between batches, and it frees up 860 mg of formula space. The silica function for connective tissue integrity and collagen cross-linking is fully preserved. The ingredient just got smarter.
The Bottom Line
CORE 2.0 is the same formula philosophy — forage-first, whole-body synergy, built for horses with a real job — with a tighter, more intentional ingredient panel. Every change was made with a specific mechanism and a specific reason. Nothing was added for label appeal. Nothing was removed without a replacement that does the job better.
Same commitment. Better formula.

Origin is half the strength of CORE. Rebound is 1.5x. The ratios hold. The philosophy doesn’t change.
